I'm a Complete Beginner
The Complete Beauty Course is the usual first step: waxing, facials, lashes, brows and makeup in one enrolment, so you open with a full treatment list rather than a single service.
I Want Every Beauty Skill
The Ultimate Beauty Course is our largest beauty package, taking in the treatments above plus more of the eye and skin work, for people building a full salon menu from the start.
I'm Already Qualified
Add one treatment at a time — a lash lift, brow lamination, dermaplaning or spray tanning — to widen what you already offer without repeating what you know.
Beauty Course Packages
Several treatments learned together in one enrolment, with the shared theory taught once rather than repeated on every course.

I did the Ultimate Beauty bundle and I was surprised by how much content you actually get. There’s so much value compared to other courses I looked at. Each section is detailed and easy to follow, and I liked that I could take my time with each part instead of rushing through. It’s perfect if you want to offer multiple treatments and build a wider skill set. I’ve already started using what I learned and plan to expand my services even more.
I’ve tried a couple of beauty courses before and this is by far the best one. It actually prepares you for real clients instead of just teaching basic theory. The way everything is explained step by step makes it much less overwhelming, especially if you’re starting from scratch. I also liked that there’s guidance on the business side of things, which most courses don’t include. I now feel ready to start offering treatments professionally.
I was really unsure about doing an online beauty course, but it actually worked out better than I expected. Being able to pause, rewind and rewatch the lessons made such a difference compared to in-person training. You can really take your time and learn properly. I never felt rushed, which helped my confidence a lot.
Meet Your Tutor
Victoria Arpels BA (Hons), Cert Ed
Victoria trained in beauty therapy, worked in a busy spa and lectured in further education colleges before founding Next Step Beauty in 2008. Since then, Next Step Beauty has taught more than 100,000 students, with learners in 65 countries and territories across six continents. Victoria demonstrates the techniques in our course videos and, with our tutor team, supports students through personal feedback on their case studies and our private student groups.
Eyes & Brow Courses
Brow work is the fastest treatment to add and the one clients rebook most often. Shaping and tinting through to lamination and henna.
Lash Courses
Lashes bring clients back on a cycle rather than once. A lift needs no infills, extensions need them every few weeks.
Facial & Skin Courses
Start with the facial routine clients book monthly, then add the machine and acid treatments they book in courses of sessions.

Learn a full professional facial — skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, massage, masks and aftercare — the foundation the machine treatments build on.
Learn dermaplaning: using a sterile blade to remove dead skin and fine vellus hair, leaving a smooth surface for products and makeup.
Learn microdermabrasion: controlled mechanical exfoliation, machine handling, pressure and passes, contra-indications and aftercare.
Learn hydradermabrasion: cleansing, exfoliating and hydrating the skin in one treatment, with client consultation, contra-indications and aftercare.
Learn chemical skin peels: peel types and strengths, patch testing, application, timing and the aftercare that protects the result.
Learn microneedling with both the derma roller and the pen, including needle depths, skin preparation, contra-indications and aftercare.
Learn LED light therapy: the wavelengths used, which concerns each suits, treatment timings and how it pairs with your other facials.
Makeup & Semi-Permanent Makeup
Everyday and bridal makeup, plus the semi-permanent techniques that hold for months rather than hours.
Waxing, Tanning & Body
Short, well-paid treatments that fill the gaps between longer appointments in a working day.

Private Student Groups
Join our private student groups to ask questions, share your work and learn alongside other students.
After Your Course: From Diploma to Your First Clients
Finishing your course is the start of the next step. Here’s how students go from learning to working with clients.
1. Get Your Certificate
Pass every assessed unit and receive your certificate or accredited diploma, depending on the course.
2. Get Insured
Insurers recognise our accreditations, though each sets its own requirements — confirm yours covers the treatments you plan to offer.
3. Plan Your Business
Business training is included with every course to help you launch and grow your own beauty business, from setting your prices to finding your first clients.
4. Build Your Confidence
Keep practising on friends and family to build speed and consistency, then take your first paying clients when you feel ready. Your course materials are yours for life, and our private student groups are there for support.
5. Keep Growing
Add treatments as you go — lash lifts, brow lamination, dermaplaning or spray tanning all slot onto an existing menu.
Why Choose a Career in Beauty?
Beauty is a career you can build one treatment at a time and shape around the rest of your life.
- Start small: one treatment can pay for the next course, so the menu grows as the client list does.
- Flexible: fit appointments around family, another job or study.
- Repeat clients: lashes, brows and waxing bring people back on a cycle rather than once.
- Room to specialise: move into advanced skin work or semi-permanent makeup once the basics are steady.
Popular Beauty Treatments Explained
Not sure what the difference is? Here are the treatments clients ask for most, and the course that teaches each one.
Lash Lift
Lifts and sets the natural lash from the root so it curls upward. No extensions to maintain and no infill appointments, which suits clients who want low upkeep.
Russian Lashes
Several ultra-fine extensions fanned and applied to each natural lash for a denser look than classic extensions. Needs infills every few weeks.
Brow Lamination
Relaxes and resets the brow hairs so they sit in one direction, making sparse or unruly brows look fuller. Usually paired with a tint and shape.
Dermaplaning
A sterile blade lifts away dead surface cells and fine vellus hair, leaving skin smooth and makeup sitting flat. No machine needed.
Microblading
Fine hair-like strokes worked into the brow with a hand tool, holding for months rather than days. Delivered online with students practising on their own models.
Hot Wax
Wax that shrink-wraps the hair and peels away without strips, so it suits sensitive areas better than warm wax. Often offered alongside standard waxing.
Beauty Courses UK: Train From Home at Your Own Pace
Our online beauty courses cover the treatments a working beauty room actually sells: lashes and brows, facials and advanced skin, waxing and tanning, makeup and semi-permanent makeup. Each one is taught through video demonstrations you can rewatch as often as you need, with an eBook you keep for life.
Which Course Should You Start With?
If you are starting from nothing, a package is usually better value than buying treatments one at a time — the Complete Beauty Course opens with a full treatment list, and the Ultimate Beauty Course goes further again. If you already work in beauty, a single course such as lash lift or brow lamination adds one service without repeating what you know.
How the Courses Are Assessed
Every unit is assessed as you work through it, and there is no limit on resubmissions and no extra charge if an assessment needs another try. You keep access to the material for life, so you can go back over a technique before your first paying client.
Accreditation
Most of our beauty courses are accredited by ABT, IPHM and IGCT. The advanced skin treatments and the semi-permanent makeup courses are professional training courses with a certificate on completion rather than accredited courses — insurers set their own requirements for those, so check what your provider needs before taking bookings.
Accreditation & Insurance
Accredited by ABT, IPHM and IGCT and recognised by UK insurers. The advanced skin and semi-permanent makeup courses are certificated on completion rather than accredited.

Beauty Course FAQs
Do I Need a Qualification to Work in Beauty in the UK?
There is no law requiring a specific qualification to offer most beauty treatments. What you do need is training an insurer will accept, and insurers ask to see a certificate before they will cover you. Most of our beauty courses are accredited by ABT, IPHM and IGCT, which is what insurers look for.
Are Your Beauty Courses the Same as a Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification?
No. Level 2 and Level 3 are regulated qualifications awarded through Ofqual-registered bodies, usually studied at a college over a year or more. Ours are accredited professional training courses, assessed and certificated by us and recognised by insurers — a different route, and a faster one.
Do I Need a Licence to Offer Beauty Treatments?
For most treatments, no. The exception is anything that breaks the skin: microblading, semi-permanent makeup and microneedling usually need a special treatment licence from your local council, and they may inspect your premises. Rules vary by authority, so ring yours before you advertise.
Can I Get Insured After an Online Beauty Course?
Our accredited courses are recognised by insurers including Towergate, Radius, Insync and Balens. Each insurer sets its own requirements, and some ask for extra evidence on advanced skin or semi-permanent makeup work, so confirm cover for the specific treatments you plan to offer.
How Long Does It Take to Qualify?
A single treatment course takes most students a few weeks at a comfortable pace; a package runs to a few months. There are no deadlines and no expiry, so you set the speed. Most of the time goes on practice rather than reading.
What Can a Beauty Therapist Earn?
It depends on your treatment list, your prices and how many hours you work, so we will not quote a figure we cannot stand behind. What we can say is that the treatments clients rebook on a cycle — lashes, brows and waxing — give you predictable repeat income, and advanced skin treatments carry the highest price per appointment.
Is There Demand for Beauty Treatments?
Lashes, brows and waxing are maintenance treatments, so clients return every few weeks rather than once. That repeat pattern is what makes a beauty room viable, and it is why most therapists build a menu around one or two of them before adding anything advanced.
Are Your Beauty Courses Suitable for Complete Beginners?
Yes, and most students start with no experience. Every course begins with the Foundation module covering hygiene, consultation, health and safety and the business basics, then moves into the treatment. The exceptions are the advanced skin and semi-permanent makeup courses, where you should already be confident with consultation and contra-indications.
How Does Practical Training Work Online?
You learn the method from video demonstrations you can pause and rewatch, with an eBook alongside. You then practise in your own time on willing volunteers until the technique is consistent. Your written work is assessed unit by unit as you go.
Are Online Beauty Courses as Good as In-Person Training?
They are different. A classroom gives you a tutor at your shoulder for a day or two; online gives you the same demonstration as many times as you need, at the point you actually need it, and lets you spread practice over weeks rather than cramming it into a weekend.
Are There Beauty Courses Near Me?
Our courses are online, so there is nothing to travel to. You study wherever you are and practise at home, which is why we have learners in 65 countries rather than only near a training centre.
What Equipment Do I Need?
It depends entirely on the treatment. Waxing, lashes and brows need products and consumables but no machine. The advanced skin treatments need their device — a microdermabrasion or hydradermabrasion machine, an LED panel — and microblading needs a hand tool and pigments. Each course page lists what that treatment needs.
Do I Need to Buy a Kit?
No. Kits are optional on the courses that offer one, and plenty of students use equipment they already have or source their own. Buying as you reach each treatment spreads the cost if you are working through a package.
How Much Does a Beauty Course Cost?
Single treatment courses are £75 in the current sale and packages start at £245. Sale prices change, so the course page always shows what you would pay today.
Can I Pay Monthly?
Yes. You can spread the cost over three interest-free payments at the checkout with Klarna or Clearpay.
