If you have always had dark hair or you dyed your hair a color that you no longer like and you now want to be blonde, you may be stuck and not know what to do. You may even be thinking that you made the biggest mistake of your life and that there is nothing that can be done about it. You’re wrong. There is something you can do. You can bleach the unwanted color out of your hair and go blonde that way. Bleaching your hair is a bit damaging but if you know how to do it and do it right, you can get some great results. Here is the 4-1-1 if this is something you are considering doing.
What You Need
If you are thinking about bleaching your hair, it needs to be done with the right products. You are surely not going to use the same bleach you use to do your laundry or clean with. You will want to head to a store, such as Sally Beauty Supply and pick up a tub of Quick White bleach powder. Additionally, you will want to pick up a bottle of cream developer in 30 volume. This is not the highest lift, but it will work well without burning your scalp. You will need a tint bowl to mix the bleach in and a brush to apply it to your hair. It may also be a wise idea for you to pick up some plastic gloves to keep the bleach off your hands. Finally, get a bottle of toner in case you will need it. Toner will cut down on the brassy, warm tones in your hair. Once you have all of these things, you can bleach your hair.
How to Bleach Your Hair
The first thing that you will want to do is to section your hair into four sections. Clip them all back separately. You will then want to mix the correct amount of bleach with developer and start applying it to your hair with the tint brush. Leave it on for up to 90 minutes and then wash it out. When you wash it out, if you are unhappy with the gold or brassy tones in your hair, you will want to apply the toner. If your hair has no brassiness, you can skip the toning process. Apply the toner for the recommended amount of time to get the brassiness out and you will have lovely, blonde hair… just like a celebrity. Finally, do some deep conditioning because you have just put your hair through a lot and it will need the conditioning to prevent breakage.
Just because you dye your hair a color that you no longer like does not mean there is no hope for ever going blonde. Bleaching your hair is fairly easy and is something anyone can do with a little effort. Give this a try if you want that nasty color out so you can be blonde again. You may be really pleased with your results!
