Winter is on its way, but that doesn’t mean that you have to give up your tan. Unlike blustery winds in winter, pasty skin is avoidable. Simply visit the tanning salon for a golden glow or if you are too lazy to do so then apply tanning lotions or tinted moisturizers at home. Just keep in mind that dark tans in winter do not look natural so it is best to keep the color natural and sun-kissed.
Tanning Salon
Start visiting the local tanning salon a couple of times a week. Don’t get too excited and show up every day as visits two to three days a week are good enough and that too for not more than ten minutes. This will make sure that you maintain a light natural tan which will make you look great without making it obvious that you are visiting a tanning booth. Skip bronzing or darkening lotions because they aim to give a dark tan. Make sure that you use a lotion to ensure that you don’t burn your skin.
Tinted Moisturizers
This is one of the simplest ways to get a sun-kissed look and comes with the added advantage of making the skin soft and supple. Tinted moisturizers are commonly used for the face though tinted body lotions are also available. Simply rub the moisturizer over your face like you do with any other moisturizer. This is an excellent way to fake a tanned face because it saves you the hassle of having to tan the rest of your body, great for when you are all bundled up in your winter woolies and the only part of your body that is visible is your face. There is a huge variety of tinted moisturizers available in different prices and brands, for skins of different levels of sensitivity so you can easily find the one that suits you – and your bank balance – the best. Apply the moisturizer every day or before you leave the house for the best results all winter long.
Tanning Lotion
If used correctly, a tanning lotion will give you the perfect tanned look and not that fake orange-y look that is commonly associated with such lotions. Make sure that before applying the lotion you scrub your skin well to get rid of dead skin cells (these absorb the extra tanner and give the dreadful un-even look). Use a loofah to exfoliate your skin and shave your legs to prevent hair from ruining the texture. Moisturizing the skin before applying tanning lotion will also make sure that the lotion is evenly absorbed. Apply tanning lotion on the legs first before moving on to the upper body. Rub the lotion well so to avoid streaks. Keep applying the tanning lotion every few days until you reach the color you desire.
