What To Learn Alongside Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning pairs naturally with the treatments that go on straight afterwards, because freshly dermaplaned skin takes product beautifully. A chemical peel or a session of LED light therapy is the usual follow-on, and clients will often book the two together. If you would rather build the machine side of your menu, microdermabrasion is the closest relation — a different route to the same exfoliation. How Long Does The Dermaplaning Course Take?

There are no deadlines. The seven dermaplaning units are short, and most students get through them in an evening or two, but the Anatomy and Physiology module that sits behind them is the longer piece at nine units. Allow a few weeks at a comfortable pace. You keep access to the material for life, so you can go back over blade handling before your first client.

Can I Really Learn Dermaplaning Online?

Blade angle is the part people worry about, and it is the part the video demonstrations cover most closely — you can pause and rewatch the same pass as many times as you need, which is not something a classroom gives you. The practical side happens in your own time on willing volunteers, working up from the easier areas of the face until the movement feels natural.

How Am I Assessed?

Each of the 30 units has its own assessment, submitted online as you work through it. Every unit is assessed, and if an assessment needs another try there is no limit on resubmissions and no extra charge. There is no final exam sitting and no case studies to photograph for this course.

Is The Dermaplaning Course Accredited?

No. This is a professional training course with a certificate on completion, not an accredited course. Insurers set their own requirements for blade work on the face, and some ask for specific training or supervised practice, so check what your chosen provider needs before you start taking bookings.

Do I Need To Be Qualified In Beauty Already?

It helps, but the course does not assume it. The Skin Healthcare module covers skin types and the diseases and disorders that would stop you treating, and the Anatomy and Physiology module covers hair structure, which is the bit that matters most here — vellus hair behaves differently from terminal hair, and clients will ask.

What Equipment Do I Need?

Sterile single-use blades and a holder, which are inexpensive and widely available, plus your usual cleanser, toner and a soothing product for afterwards. There is no machine and no kit to buy from us. Blades are consumable, so factor them into your treatment price.

Does It Cover The Business Side?

Yes. The Foundation module runs to twelve units covering business promotion, promoting products and services, reception duties, taking payments and the retail legislation that applies. For dermaplaning specifically, the useful decision is whether you sell it as its own appointment or as an upgrade on a facial you already offer.
