Waxing is the steadiest income in beauty. Hair regrows on a cycle, so a client booked in today is a client due back in four to six weeks, and the appointment lengths are flexible enough to slot around bigger treatments. For most therapists building a column, waxing is what fills the middle of the week.

It is also a speed skill. The technique is straightforward to learn and takes time to get quick at, and the difference between a profitable waxing column and an unprofitable one is minutes per area. The course runs online, with Victoria demonstrating each area in step-by-step video.

• Consult, patch test where needed, and prepare the client and the area
• Set up a wax pot and work hygienically through a treatment

What To Learn Alongside Waxing

Hot Waxing is the natural companion — it handles the coarse hair and sensitive areas strip wax struggles with. Threading gives you an option for clients who cannot be waxed at all, and Spray Tanning is booked in the same week by the same clients.

What You’ll Need To Practise

A wax pot, strip wax, fabric or paper strips, spatulas, pre- and post-wax products, gloves and the usual consultation and hygiene supplies. Our Waxing Kit covers these, and is optional — though a proper heater, rather than a home warmer, is worth having from the start.

How Long Does the Waxing Course Take?

There are 27 units across four modules. The waxing module is four units, and the practical work is the part that stretches — legs, bikini, underarm and facial waxing each behave differently, and you want models for all of them before you charge. Most students complete their training within a few weeks to a few months.

How Is the Course Delivered?

Entirely online. Each area is filmed separately, because the strip direction and the stretch of the skin change between a leg and an underarm — and getting that wrong is what causes bruising. Models are arranged by you.

How Am I Assessed?

Every unit is assessed and you can resubmit as many times as you need. Waxing is assessed on clean removal and on the skin afterwards: hair removed in one pass, no lifted skin, and no reaction that the aftercare should have prevented.

Is the Waxing Course Accredited?

Yes — by ABT, IPHM and IGCT. The certificate is recognised by insurers including Towergate, Radius, Insync and Balens. Intimate waxing is often listed separately on a policy from general body waxing, so check what yours covers — each insurer sets its own terms.

Do I Need to Buy the Kit?

No. The Waxing Kit saves sourcing a pot, wax, strips and pre- and post-care separately. If you buy nothing else, buy a heater that holds temperature — wax that runs too hot or too cool is behind most beginner problems.

Do I Need Any Experience?

No. The Anatomy and Physiology module opens with hair structure and removal, which is the theory behind why waxing works and why regrowth arrives when it does — the thing clients ask about most.

What Business Training Is Included?

The Foundation module’s 12 units cover business promotion, promoting products and services, retail legislation, reception duties and taking payments. Waxing lives or dies on rebooking, so the reception unit matters here — a client who books their next wax on the way out is worth several who mean to ring.
