I Have Never Worked With Acrylic
The Acrylic Nail Course is £75 in the current sale and starts with the ratio — how much liquid to powder, how the bead behaves, and where to place it. Everything else builds on getting that right.
I Want the Whole Nail Pathway
The Complete Nail Technician Course is £245 and teaches acrylic alongside manicure, gel polish, builder gel and extensions, with a separate certificate for each course inside it.
I Already Do Acrylic
Sculpting, full cover tips, quick dip and the reverse smile line are the techniques that separate a competent set from one a client photographs.

Acrylic Nail Courses
Start with the core acrylic course, then add the techniques that extend what you can offer. Each course is tutor-assessed, accredited by ABT, IPHM and IGCT, and yours for life with unlimited resubmissions.
Any of these can be taken on its own, and several of them also sit inside the packages above.
I done the acrylic course with nextstep beauty and had lots of fun doing the practice sets. The booklets for every stage are so detailed and helpful and it’s an added bonus that you can access them anytime you like even after completing your course.
Another great course. My 9th one. My hardest yet but I managed it. You can do so much with acrylic you don’t even realise. Highly recommend any course that next step beauty provides.
It was fantastic to build on old skills and learn new skills in the comfort of your home. I do acrylic nails, and the e-file has made an enormous difference in learning additional skills. The best thing is that you have lifetime access, so you can always refer to course notes for ongoing support.

After Your Course: From Diploma to Your First Clients
Finishing your course is the start of the next step. Here’s how students go from learning to working with clients.
1. Practise on Your Models
You will practise on a training hand and on models, and photograph your work. Acrylic is judged on structure and finish, so your photographs need to show the nail from the side as well as the top.
2. Get Your Diploma
Pass your assessed case studies and receive your diploma certificate. If an assessment needs another try, you can resubmit as many times as you need.
3. Plan Your Business
Business training is included with every course to help you set your prices, present your work and find your first clients.
4. Keep Growing
Add a technique as your client list grows. An acrylic client in your chair every three weeks for infills is the easiest person to sell nail art or a new shape to.
Why Train in Acrylic?
Acrylic is the most durable enhancement you can offer and the one with the most predictable rebook. It is also the most technical, which is exactly why it holds its price.
- Infills Every Three Weeks: acrylic grows out rather than falling off, so maintenance is built into the service and the next booking makes itself.
- The Strongest Option: clients who break gel, work with their hands or want real length end up on acrylic. That is a specific demand you can meet.
- Cheapest Per Set: liquid and powder goes further than most gel systems, so your product cost per client is lower once you are working cleanly.
- No Lamp Required: acrylic cures in air, which makes mobile work and home setups simpler.
- Skill You Can Charge For: a well-structured acrylic set is visibly harder to do than a polish, and priced accordingly.
Acrylic Techniques Explained
Acrylic is one product system used several different ways. These are the techniques on this page and what each one is for.
Acrylic Overlay and Application
Liquid monomer and polymer powder picked up as a bead and worked onto the nail. Ratio, bead consistency and placement are the whole job — get those right and the rest follows.
Sculpting
Building length on a form rather than a tip, so the extension is one continuous piece of product. Stronger than a tipped nail and the technique clients pay most for.
Full Cover Tips
A pre-shaped tip covering the whole nail, then overlaid. Much faster than sculpting and a good option for a client who wants length without a long appointment.
Quick Dip
Nails dipped into coloured powder over a resin base rather than brushed with a bead. Fast, low odour and useful for clients who dislike the smell of monomer.
Reverse Smile Line
An inverted French built into the product rather than painted on top. A finishing technique that shows your structure is clean, because nothing hides an uneven apex faster than a smile line.
Sculpting vs Tips vs Quick Dip
Three ways to put acrylic on a nail. They differ in how length is created, how long the appointment takes and how they come off.
| Sculpting | Full Cover Tips | Quick Dip | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How length is made | Built on a form | A tip is glued on | No length added |
| Strength | Strongest, one piece | Strong, with a join | Overlay strength only |
| Appointment time | Longest | Quicker | Quickest |
| Skill level | Most technical | Moderate | Easiest to pick up |
| Removal | Filed back | Filed back | Soak off |
| Odour | Monomer | Monomer | Low |
Most technicians offer sculpting and tips and choose by how much time the appointment has. If you would rather work with a lamp-cured system, that sits under Gel Courses.
Acrylic Nail Courses UK: Train in Acrylic Online
Our online acrylic nail courses teach liquid and powder from the first bead through to sculpted length, with the structure work that decides whether a set lasts three weeks or three days.
It Starts With the Ratio
Almost every acrylic problem a new technician has comes back to the liquid-to-powder ratio. Too wet and the product runs into the cuticle and lifts; too dry and it drags, traps air and crumbles under pressure. The Acrylic Nail Course spends real time on what a correct bead looks like, how it should behave in the three seconds after you pick it up, and how to adjust when the room is cold or the product is new to you.
From there it covers placement, building an apex, and filing back to a structure that is even from every angle — which is the part a photograph exposes immediately.
Then Length and Finish
Sculpting builds the extension on a form so the whole nail is one piece of product, and it is the strongest and most technical route. Full cover tips get you there faster with a join to blend. Quick dip swaps the brush for dipped powder over resin, which suits clients who dislike monomer odour. The reverse smile line is a finishing technique that only looks right on top of clean structure.
How the Courses Work
Every technique is demonstrated on video by Victoria, our tutor, filmed close enough to see the bead forming on the brush and how it settles before it sets. You can replay a step as often as you need while you practise. Written work and photographic case studies are assessed by a tutor who tells you what to correct, and resubmissions are unlimited at no extra cost.
There is no timetable and access does not expire, so you can train around work. Most students finish within a few weeks to a few months, though acrylic rewards more practice time than most treatments.
Kit, Ventilation and Practising
You will need liquid monomer, polymer powders, an acrylic brush, forms or tips and a dust brush, plus a sensible working setup — acrylic has an odour and dust, so ventilation and a dust mask matter more here than with gel. You can buy a kit alongside your course or use your own; the teaching covers how product behaves rather than one brand’s range. Practise on a training hand first, then on models, and photograph your work for your case studies.
Accreditation
Our acrylic courses are accredited by ABT, IPHM and IGCT, and recognised by insurers including Towergate, Radius, Insync and Balens. Insurers set their own requirements, so the certificate is what you present rather than cover in itself. Business training is included with every course. If you would rather work with a lamp-cured system, that route sits under Gel Courses.

What Our Students Say
Really great courses, very informative. Can reach a member of the team quickly and you get very prompt replies with great support. Nothing is ever too much hassle for them. I thoroughly enjoyed all the courses I have done — manicure, acrylic and gel — and have passed all of them.
Daisy M
I qualified as a nail technician in 2014, but had been out of practice for a few years. I was looking for a course to refresh my skills. I found the course very easy to follow and was happy to learn at home in my own time, as I have a toddler and I'm currently pregnant with my second, so this suited me perfectly. The course is professional and full of helpful information for you to be successful in the beauty business.
Kayleigh Balderson
I am currently doing the Ultimate Nail Technician course. I have completed 5 so far and I must say these courses far exceeded my expectations. The courses cover anatomy, videos, workbooks and much more. My confidence is growing daily and I'm very quickly starting to master my techniques. You can submit work using a training hand, your own nails or models. Marking is done in a very timely manner.

Acrylic Nail Course FAQs
Do I Need Experience Before Starting Acrylic?
No, but acrylic is less forgiving than gel polish, so expect to spend more time practising the bead before anything looks tidy. The course starts from zero and does not assume you have held an acrylic brush.
If you have never done nails at all, many students take the manicure course alongside it so their preparation is sound before they add product.
Why Does My Acrylic Lift at the Cuticle?
Usually product flooding the cuticle area, or a bead that is too wet and runs before it sets. Both leave acrylic sitting on skin rather than bonded to the plate, and it lifts within days.
The course works through ratio, placement and how far from the cuticle to start, because this one fault accounts for most early complaints.
Is Acrylic Bad for Natural Nails?
Applied and removed properly, no. Damage comes from over-filing the natural plate during preparation, prising product off, or leaving a set on far past its infill date.
Removal and infill technique are taught alongside application for exactly this reason.
What About the Smell?
Monomer has a strong odour, which is a genuine consideration if you work from home or a small room. Good ventilation, a lidded dappen dish and keeping product covered make a large difference.
If odour is a dealbreaker, the Quick Dip Nails Course uses dipped powder over resin instead, with far less smell.
Can Acrylic Be Taught Online?
The technique is visual and the critical detail is small: how wet the bead is, how it self-levels, where the apex sits when you sight down the nail. Video filmed close in shows that better than standing behind someone in a classroom.
Your own work is assessed separately from photographs, so a tutor still tells you what to correct.
Sculpting or Tips — Which Should I Learn?
Tips are quicker to pick up and quicker in the chair. Sculpting is stronger, has no join to blend, and is what clients pay a premium for.
Most technicians end up doing both and choose by how much time the appointment allows. The comparison table above sets them side by side.
Are the Acrylic Courses Accredited?
Yes — ABT, IPHM and IGCT, and recognised by insurers including Towergate, Radius, Insync and Balens. Insurers apply their own criteria, so the certificate is the document you present to them rather than cover in itself.
