Your nail course cost in the UK depends on the treatments you want to learn, how you study and whether products are included. As a current example, Next Step Beauty’s online Gel Polish Course costs £75, the five-course Complete Nail Technician package costs £245, and the eleven-course Ultimate Nail package costs £595. Kits are optional and cost extra.
The useful figure is your total budget to learn and practise, not just the enrolment price. This guide explains what to compare, where extra costs can arise and how to choose a starting point that fits your plans. All prices below were checked on 9 October 2026; offers and fees can change, so check the linked pages before booking.
Nail course cost in the UK: what changes the price?
A course teaching one treatment and a package covering several nail systems are different purchases. So are an assessed online diploma and a college qualification with a different syllabus and timetable. Comparing the headline prices alone can leave you paying for something that does not suit your next step.
Start with these five questions:
- What will I learn? Check the actual treatment list, including preparation, application, maintenance and removal where relevant.
- How is practical work assessed? Ask what you submit, who gives feedback and whether further submissions cost extra.
- What support and access are included? Check the support channel, access period and any deadline or extension fee.
- Which certificate or qualification will I receive? An accredited diploma and an Ofqual-regulated qualification are different routes. Compare the route you need, not just a “Level” in a course title.
- Which products must I supply? A course-only price is not directly comparable with a fee that includes a kit.
If the qualification wording is unfamiliar, our guide to nail technician qualifications in the UK explains the distinction and the checks to make with an insurer or prospective employer.
Single course or package: compare the skills you will use
These are current NSB online course prices, not a UK market average. They show how the scope of training changes the fee.
| Course or package | Current course fee | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Gel Polish Course | £75 | One treatment: gel polish on natural nails. |
| Complete Nail Technician | £245 | Manicure, Gel Polish, Gel Extensions, Acrylic Nail Extensions and Builder in a Bottle. |
| Ultimate Nail | £595 | Eleven courses covering manicure, pedicure, several enhancement systems and nail art. |
A single course can make sense if you have a clear first treatment in mind or are adding one skill. A package is worth comparing when you genuinely want the treatments it includes and can make time to practise them.
For example, the five courses in Complete Nail Technician are currently listed individually at £75 each. That is £375 separately versus £245 as the package: a £130 difference at the checked prices. But if you only want Gel Polish, spending £245 instead of £75 does not automatically make your choice better value.
Compare the current nail courses and course packages against the treatments you actually intend to learn. A larger course count is useful only when those courses serve your plans.
What is included in the NSB course fee?
NSB course fees include the online learning material, theory assessment, practical case-study assessment and tutor support by email. Victoria marks submitted case studies through the learning portal. Successful completion of each course earns its digital diploma; watching the videos alone does not complete the assessment.
You have lifetime access with no completion deadline. Theory retakes and practical resubmissions are included without an additional assessment fee. These details matter when comparing a lower advertised price that may have different access or assessment terms.
Our explanation of how the courses, guided practice and case studies work sets out the learning process. Read that alongside the individual course page before deciding.
Add the kit before deciding what you can spend
NSB kits are optional and are not included in the course fee. You may use suitable professional products you already own, or buy the equipment and products needed for your chosen treatment. Check the course requirements before buying.
Two current examples make the difference clear:
- Gel Polish Course £75 + optional Gel Polish Kit £144 = £219.
- Complete Nail Technician Course £245 + optional Complete Nail Kit £456 = £701.
These are course-and-kit subtotals, not promises that every cost of training or starting a business is covered. Read the current Gel Polish Kit and Complete Nail Kit contents before ordering. Our starter kit guide helps you separate essentials from extras without buying everything at once.
A simple budget example
Suppose you choose the £75 Gel Polish Course and £144 kit, then set aside an illustrative £40 for additional practice supplies you have identified. Your planning subtotal is £259. The £40 is an example allowance, not a supplier quote or a recommended amount for every student. Add your own confirmed costs for anything else you need.
Write your budget as: course fee + missing products and equipment + practice supplies + any travel or other relevant costs. Doing this before enrolling gives you a more useful comparison than dividing the course fee by the number of videos.
Online and classroom costs: compare the whole commitment
Online learning can remove journeys to a training venue, but you still need a suitable practice space, products and time to learn. Classroom training may suit you if you value being physically alongside a tutor; include travel, parking, accommodation if needed and any time away from work in your comparison.
As a separate UK example, Beauty Pro Academy’s Full Nail Technician course lists a £699 course fee and separate kits for case-study work. Its syllabus and delivery differ from NSB’s packages, so this is a named price example rather than a like-for-like value judgement. Check the provider’s current dates, inclusions and full fee.
A booking deposit is only part of a course price. Always ask for the total payable, any balance deadline and the cancellation terms before comparing it with a course advertised at its full fee.
Can you spread the cost?
NSB advertises Klarna Pay in 3. Availability is subject to the provider’s approval and terms; check the payment options offered for your order at checkout. Instalments change when you pay, not the underlying cost of the course or kit.
Payment providers do not all use the same schedule. Read Klarna’s UK Pay in 3 information and, if choosing Clearpay, its UK payment information: Clearpay describes four instalments over six weeks, rather than three monthly payments. These are forms of credit, eligibility criteria apply and late fees may apply. Check the total, repayment dates and provider terms before committing.
Costs to check beyond the course and kit
- Practice consumables: files, wipes, removal products and replacements as supplies are used.
- Models and practice arrangements: suitable people to practise on, their availability and any travel you agree to cover. Do not assume models are supplied.
- Your workspace: equipment or changes needed for the treatments you plan to practise. Avoid buying salon furniture before you know what you need.
- Insurance: ask your chosen insurer about student practice and later paid treatments, the specific course and each treatment you want covered. Course accreditation is not an insurance policy.
- Optional extras: additional colours, equipment upgrades or printed certificates where offered. Keep these separate from the essentials.
For insurance questions, use the provider’s current policy information, such as ABT’s UK insurance website, and obtain confirmation for your circumstances. Do not add a guessed insurance price to a budget and assume it covers everything.
Is a cheap nail course worth it?
It can be, if it teaches the skill you need, includes meaningful assessment and support, and has requirements you can meet. Price alone cannot tell you that. Check what you will practise, how your work is marked and what happens if you need more feedback.
Our guide to whether online nail courses are worth it explores those learning questions in more detail.
Does a more expensive course guarantee clients or earnings?
No. Training is one part of developing your skills and preparing to work. A higher fee, bigger kit or longer treatment list does not guarantee bookings or income.
What should I compare first?
Choose the treatment or treatments you want to learn, then compare the full course fee, assessment, support, certificate and product requirements. Start with our Complete Nail Technician Course if you want those five core treatments, or ask the NSB team about your starting point before enrolling.
